NWSA MEMBER PROGRAM TESTIMONIALS (2009)

Women of Color: Theory, Scholarship, and Activism Evaluations

“Bonnie Thornton Dill, Andrea Smith, and Jacqui Alexander were fabulous.”

“All of the presenters were well-organized, intellectually generous, and modeled how ‘to be’ in the academy. This was a tremendous gift to us.”

“I wanted to learn new ways of approaching my classes and to learn about different ways of thinking about intersectionality. My expectations were greatly exceeded!”

Engaged Scholarship Webinar

“This was a useful and relevant session. I loved the focus on both/and thinking, and the session helped me recognize my own practices of engaging students in learning through relevant practices.”

“Exciting and positive with concrete ideas and examples. Thanks!”

Conference

“Overall I rate this conference highly in comparison with other professional conferences I have attended and I plan to attend again. I was impressed by the quality of the presentations, by the seeming large variety in age and ethnic groups, by the passionate interests in all aspects of Women's Studies.”

“It was a fabulous experience. It was very intellectually stimulating and relevant.”

“I really enjoyed the interaction in our presentation and other presentations! What a great wonderful group of women!”

“Thank you for the experience and opportunity; programs like the Women of Color project are fantastic and need to be supported. I found myself much more interested in learning about the business side of the house, and I'm glad for it. As a first time attendee, I believe that the focus on mentoring, leadership and networking which was a large part of the leadership project could be strengthened if integrated further with the general conference. Thanks for the wonderful opportunity.”

“I had an exceptional time at the conference. I was able to meet and speak with individuals whose work has informed my own. In addition, I met some new contacts, some inspiring third-wave scholars, and a few folks in the publishing industry. I would say the most inspiring session for me was the conversation between Beverly Guy-Sheftall and Paula Giddings. And then there was the summer solstice celebration--magnificent and enlightening. I truly enjoyed the conference. Thank you all very much for doing such an amazing job.”
